The University of Melbourne needed to design its 2022–23 and 2023–24 annual reports for both digital and print distribution. The goal was to clearly communicate institutional performance, priorities, and impact to a broad range of stakeholders, including government bodies, partners, alumni, and the wider community.
The challenge was to present large volumes of complex information in a way that felt accessible, structured, and aligned with the university’s reputation as a leading global institution.
The Solution
We led the design of both annual reports, creating a clear, consistent visual system that worked seamlessly across formats. Our work included:
Full annual report design for print and digital formats
Layout systems optimized for long-form reading and data-heavy content
Visual hierarchy and typographic systems to support clarity and accessibility
Custom graphics and charts to communicate key metrics and outcomes
A cohesive design approach across consecutive reporting years
Each report was designed to balance institutional credibility with readability and modern presentation.
Outcomes
Two cohesive annual reports aligned with the university’s brand and standards
Improved clarity and navigation across complex, information-dense content
Consistent visual language across multiple reporting years
High-quality print and digital assets suitable for wide stakeholder distribution
